F.A.Q.

1. WHAT ARE THE DETAILS OF YOUR ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE?

REAL Ministries is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. REAL was organized “to reach, teach, and send emerging generations with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (Quoted from “Who We Are” ) REAL has a board of directors, who see that the organization functions both as a legally incorporated and approved by the Internal Revenue Service, and more importantly, overseeing that it maintains its doctrinal position, Scriptural practice and its financial integrity.

Regarding REAL’s financial policies. Any questions about these policies should be addressed in writing to REAL’s office or through email here

2. WHAT IS REAL'S PHILOSOPHY OF SENDING MISSIONARIES?

The basic philosophy of REAL as a sending organization is to send, support (through resources and possibly future mission projects), managing their donations, and through prayer. It is not our heart to regulate or micromanage our missionaries. While we may offer our insights when needed and see how the Lord might have us collaborate together in ministry together, our largest concern is that a missionary be sent to the field with the freedom to work and operate in his or her calling without being controlled by the sending organization. This does not mean we do not believe in accountability or oversight of missionaries we just believe that should be of a function of the missionaries home church, his or her supporting churches and the Holy Spirit. In practice, this means we do not dictate to the missionary how the missionary spends his or her money, how much money they can receive, or how or where they might work. Agreement between REAL Ministries’ policies and the missionary requires certain divisions of income, such as personal support, ministry support and ministry expenses, which are for the missionary’s protection. “For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man” (2 Cor. 8:21) The missionary’s financial arrangements are confidential to us and any information must be given by the missionary or their home church, not by our office.

3. WHAT ARE YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR MISSIONARIES?

There are no qualifications such as age limit, health, education, etc. The procedure for using REAL as a sending organization is as follows: First there will be a brief questionnaire to be filled out. It will include questions regarding basic orthodox Christian beliefs and practice. While we do not expect every missionary to agree with every minute theological view of our ministry or other missionaries supported by our organization, we do believe that there are basic tenants of the Christian faith that must be upheld by any missionary for a sustainable partnership. Secondly, a missionary must be sponsored by the church where he or she is a faithful member. He or she must be recommended by their own pastor and commissioned by their home church. In addition, he or she must have the recommendation of two other doctrinally sound pastors or ministry leaders. These three pastors/ministry leaders (that the missionary has chosen) become the missionary’s “Mission Board.” Each missionary candidate is screened and qualified based upon the recommendation of his sending and sponsoring churches. Lastly there will be an extensive interview between our organization and the candidate either face to face, telephone or through digital means such as Skype. The integrity and character of every missionary is of vital importance to REAL. If a missionary is going to a location where there is not a ministry on the ground that they will be working with there will be further steps involved in the process of taking on the missionary before he or she is accepted and sent. (This is for the missionary’s own protection)

4. WHAT ARE THE PRIMARY FUNCTIONS or REAL AS A SENDING ORGANIZATION?

As a sending organization, REAL exists to serve the global work of the Lord being done by our missionaries. Our focus is always about helping the long-term ministry being done on the ground by the missionary. This is done through different vehicles of enhancement such as a short-term mission project when appropriate and the use of our website as means to share with others what is being done through the missionary, as well as donate financially on line. Secondly we serve churches and missionaries by processing funds for the missionary endeavor as a means to keep the missionary’s life, administratively speaking, as simple as possible so they focus more on the work on the field. When we receive gifts from the donors, we issue tax-deductible receipts, accumulate the funds in each missionary’s account, prepare complete reports for the missionaries and in every way we know, provide information for the missionary that will be helpful in his relationship with the churches. Our ministry includes getting the funds to the on or around the specified day of the month agreed upon ahead of time, using whatever method agreed upon with the missionary. We also provide legal documentation that is necessary, as well as verifying the financial information needed by the missionary and validating their income as required in their personal and professional endeavors.

5. WHICH FIELDS ARE OPEN TO YOUR MISSIONARIES?

Jesus was clear. He said, “Go into ALL the world and make disciples…” So the field is the world. No exceptions. As an organization we will serve any mission field where the missionaries desire to go. REAL does not exercise control over where the missionaries serve. In fact, we do not consider it to be of Biblical practice to have any area of the world off-limits to true Great Commission missionary endeavors

6. IN VIEW OF YOUR LACK OF ORGANIZATIONAL CONTROL OVER THE MISSIONARIES, WHEN AND IF IT IS NEEDED, HOW DO YOU DISCIPLINE THEM?

When a missionary is associated with REAL, he or she signs this agreement:

“The missionary agrees to the following procedure if in the opinion of REAL Ministries it becomes necessary. In the event a question shall arise concerning the legal, moral, doctrinal or financial integrity of the missionary, REAL shall ask for a meeting with the three pastors who signed the letters of recommendation, either face to face, through a conference call or through digital media. REAL will give them, and only them, any evidence it has to offer. If it is a face to face meeting the missionary is to be given sufficient notice to enable him or her to attend the meeting, if he or she desires. If these pastors decide to withdraw their recommendations, this agreement will be terminated, and the churches so notified. REAL would then continue to handle funds only in its function as a service to the churches involved, without further responsibility to the missionary.”

7. WHAT IS YOUR FINANCIAL POLICY?

REAL Ministries operates on a gross percentage based structure of support. Our policy is as followed: For the first six months the missionary begins receiving support we charge 10% off the gross monthly support that comes in for the missionary. After the six month period that percentage drops to 8% off the gross amount. And after two years time, it is reduced to what will be the final percentage take of 7%. All of the funds that are taken go 100% back into the mission and to support our endeavors for the Kingdom and not to make any kind of personal profit from being a sending organization. We do have a General Fund, and any donation to help the home office would be greatly appreciated.

8. IF I WANT TO SUPPORT A MISSIONARY BY SENDING FUNDS PHYSICALLY WHERE SHOULD SUPPORT BE SENT?

While we strongly recommend donating to missionaries digitally, all physical contributions and support for a missionary should be sent directly to our mailing address with a designation to the missionary to be supported:
